On 29th March in Barcelona, we held a business breakfast where attendees were able to listen to Zurich’s case study. Luis Miguel Nuez, CTO of Zurich, and Ángel Márquez, Development Architecture of Zurich, shared their experience of building their Centre of Excellence (CoE) and their point of view on quality and governance of software systems and its alignment within the global business strategy.

Zurich focused its speech on the need to find the balance between flexibility and synergies, between being able to satisfy any demand from customers and the cost saving benfits of economies of scale. In order to do so, they needed to manage and classify the software element functions into "common" or "specific", and to find their dependencies (in any technology or layer). It was also pointed out that the importance of standardising the demands set for outsourcers is so that they can commit themselves to clients. With the help of checKing QA, Zurich is a governance and quality frame that sets a predefined quality level that all outsourcers and internal deliveries must met.
The event finished with a breakfast and a round table where the audience raised questions and shared experiences.
